We were absolutely delighted to mark the 20th anniversary of KIMO International’s Fishing for Litter initiative on Friday.
Fraserburgh is a founding Harbour, alongside Lerwick Port Authority and Peterhead Port Authority and we’ve been championing this project since the start, as the initiative not only makes our seas cleaner but saves spoiling the fishermen’s catch.
It plays a huge role in ensuring our coastline is a clean and safe habitat for both wildlife and people alike – a priority for Fraserburgh Harbour – and hats off to the fishermen have done an incredible job in collecting tonne after tonne of litter over the past two decades.
Pictured is our HSEQ lead, Jill Smith, who introduced this project to Fraserburgh, and our Harbour Master, Captain Shane Wood, receiving a commemorative award at the Fraserburgh ceremony, which appropriately took place at Kinnaird House, the brand new Scottish White Fish Producers’ Association base.
