It is impossible to overstate the value of the support we receive from those who know the town and area best.
Lady Saltoun, Chief of Clan Fraser and Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, has taken a life-long interest in the Harbour for which we are very grateful, and her recent letter of support – excerpt below – sums up her astute understanding of the Harbour and the impact of our development plans.
“By supporting our much-respected fishing industry, diversifying to welcome offshore renewable energy schemes, creating state-of-the-art vessel repair facilities and including such diverse opportunities as welcoming small cruise ships to our shore, the Harbour plans will create a balance of economic benefits across the region, whilst maintaining the fabric of the town and amenities for all.
“We should embrace this promise of a bright future for Buchan through the Fraserburgh Harbour expansion scheme and thus take advantage of the opportunities which both recognise the work of those who came before us and pave the way for future generations’ benefit.
“I wholeheartedly encourage and support the proposals to build on our shared heritage and the keen local desire to see Fraserburgh flourish, as the Harbour steers a course towards a bright and prosperous future which will deliver benefits for all of us. I have always said that Fraserburgh has much to be proud of and this embodies that sentiment.”
