It is almost exactly six months since we welcomed our Harbour Master, Captain Shane Wood, to Fraserburgh.
So what better a time to catch up with the man himself, and find out how he’s found his first few months in post…
“Fraserburgh has such a diverse community with so many people directly or indirectly involved in, connected to, or dependant upon, the Harbour. Over these first few months I have met many different people, enjoyed learning from and working with the local fishermen, and been amazed by the passion everyone has for the success of the Harbour.
“During my initial visit to Fraserburgh, the dedication of the officials in executing our strategic plan was obvious, and I continue to be impressed by their ongoing commitment to the Harbour of today, and its success in the future.
“With several new Commissioners coming on board in the past six months, we’ve gained some impressive and relevant experience which is ably bolstering the work already undertaken by their predecessors, the current Board and the Harbour personnel.
“I am proud to be part of the Harbour Team, all of whom strive to support the community in and around the Harbour, and all the industries involved in the local and Scottish economy.
“The Masterplan is an essential way forward to provide a future for our children, the Fraserburgh community and north east Scotland. I look forward to continuing my duties as Harbour Master and contributing to the future of Fraserburgh.”
