To ensure we develop a Harbour fit for purpose, we communicate regularly with our key stakeholders, including the fishing industry, offshore wind energy developers, the UK and Scottish Governments, local education and the community.

Our Objectives

  • Creating a resilient trust port which will make a major contribution to our community and region, while delivering long term prosperity for everyone
  • Delivering a project which significantly enhances the Aberdeenshire ports’ offering and targets growing markets in vessel repair and maintenance
  • Building a new Harbour, offering quayside space and berthing and state-of-the-art vessel repair facilities
  • Undertaking improvements to our existing Harbour

New Harbour Development

  • New south breakwater and extended north breakwater
  • Basin (-10m Chart Datum) with capacity for up to 7 SOVs at any one time depending on size
  • Multi-purpose flexible quayside space of approx 5.2 hectares
  • 720m of operational quayside with a 40m concrete apron
  • Dry dock 120m clear length and 25m wide working area and readying pier
  • 4800m2 heavy lift area
  • Potable water bunkering
  • Shore to ship power

Existing Harbour Improvements

  • Improved wave climate and protection
  • Extended ship lift facility with covered facility for year-round operation
  • Deeper water and wider entrance at Faithlie Harbour resulting in better access to fishmarket and ship lift
  • Improved access to Balaclava Harbour and an additional pelagic berth
  • Additional pontoons
