FISH MARKET OPERATIVE

The Harbour Commissioners have a vacancy for a person to work within the Fish Market team.

This is a permanent position, which would require the candidate to do shift work and be able to cover other team members shifts as and when required for annual holidays and sickness, sometimes at short notice.

The role is to maintain productive and helpful relationships with our customers landing into the Port and assist vessels during berthing and the landing of their catch. Depending on which shift is being covered the duties will alter slightly but candidates are expected to ensure compliance with all current market rules and codes of practice. Undertake when required cleaning practices that maintain good hygiene within the market. The applicant will also be required to update the Fish at next market spreadsheet which is displayed on our website and update our telephone answering messaging service. Reporting to the Market supervisor, Experience of working within the fishing industry is essential along with Forklift experience, some basic computer literacy would also be advantageous. The nature of this post requires that applicants must be flexible, self-motivated and capable of working on their own initiative and being an integral part of the team.
